Muscular Sports Car Styling
The Veloster SR Turbo is the latest addition to Hyundai’s range of New Cars whose styling is based on the signature fluidic sculpture design language.
The Veloster SR Turbo’s styling also incorporates numerous features that are designed to support its sports car look and improve performance. These include large, twin circular exhaust pipes, sculpted side skirts, and a wide-mouth, hexagonal grille, which hides an ingenious air-guiding duct that lowers the intercooler outlet temperature.
Alloy wheels with chrome inserts
The Veloster SR Turbo is equipped with 18” alloys with distinct chrome inserts.
Panoramic glass roof
With the touch of a button, the full-length panorama glass roof transforms the cabin by filling it with air, energy and light, letting you experience the total thrill of driving fast with the top down. When the sunroof is closed, a motorised blind provides UV protection and minimises heat build-up inside the cabin.
Introducing matt paint technology
This exciting matt paint technology produces a uniquely dramatic, hi-tech satin appearance, yet also provides a protective shell which safeguards the underlying paint film and ensures the outstanding long term durability of the Veloster. The matt paint finish, like any high quality vehicle paint finish, requires care and has some advantages. Matt finish vehicles do not require wax, polish or anything else to create shine. The aim is to always hand-wash the vehicle without scratching the matte paint finish and to protect it from (but not limited to) environmental fall out, bird droppings, tree sap damage – just as any other high quality paint finish would require.
Matt versus conventional
The high gloss finish of conventional vehicle paintwork is created by the clear-coat layer – a transparent paint film which is applied over the colour layer to leave a tough, shiny surface. In contrast, matt clearcoat paint technology has been specifically formulated to eliminate the glossy sheen and light reflection of a conventional clear-coat. As a result, it creates an exclusive satin-like finish and gives the vehicle a unique exterior appearance.
Washing the car
The following materials are to be used when hand-washing a vehicle with matt paint finish (it is not advised to use any mechanised car wash);
- Remove foreign substances such as insect remains, tar, and road debris using a soft applicator and a mild solvent; saturate and soak area with water before cleaning - rub lightly.
- Only use a microfibre chenille wash mitt when washing.
- Use a pH balanced soap and avoid caustic detergents and harsh degreasers.
- Two buckets of water are required to rinse the wash mitt to avoid scratching.
- Microfibre chenille chamois.
- Microfibre towel.
- Matt finish vehicles do not require wax, polish or anything else to create shine.
High tech. high comfort.
The Veloster SR Turbo reflects its sports car personality, inside and out. The interior is built around a centre fascia that’s shaped like the fuel tank of a high-performance motorbike, while features such as leather-trimmed sports bucket seats and alloy pedals add to the total sports driving experience.
Packed with high tech equipment and all the technology you need for the digital age, the Veloster SR Turbo also offers ample space for four occupants, while the generous boot provides plenty of room for all the gear you need for weekend sports or a few days away.
Proximity smart key & push button start
Proximity key technology enables you to lock and unlock your Veloster SR Turbo without taking the key from your pocket or bag. Similarly, the push button start allows you to fire it up without having to insert the key.
Front sports bucket seats
The Veloster SR Turbo includes bolstered, leather-trimmed front sports bucket seats, while 60:40 split folding rear seats increase luggage carrying capacity and allow extra room for unusual shaped items.
More power. More torque. More sports car fun.
With its new Gamma 1.6 litre twin-scroll turbocharged GDi engine with front-mounted intercooler, the Veloster SR Turbo offers all the on-demand power you’d expect from a true sports car. It pumps out 46% more power (150 kW power at 6,000 rpm) and packs 60% more torque (265Nm of torque at 1,750 to 4,500 rpm).
With loads of grunt when you need it, the Veloster SR Turbo is equally at home just purring around the city, or being pushed to the max on the open road. And to ensure the smooth and precise handling of all that extra torque, the engine has been teamed with a special 6-speed manual transmission that has narrower gear ratios for quicker acceleration.
The Veloster SR Turbo’s performance is boosted by a powerful twin-scroll turbocharger. Featuring two exhaust gas inlets, it enables more efficient power usage and quicker energy recovery than a single-scroll turbo. In turn, this reduces turbo lag at low revs during everyday driving, but provides instant power for fast acceleration. The turbine set-up also boosts heat recovery and turbo efficiency.
Mean but lean
The GDi fuel delivery system enables the Veloster SR Turbo to combine raw power with exceptional fuel economy and reduced exhaust emissions. The GDi technology achieves this by using a high-pressure pump to directly inject the right amount of fuel at precisely the right time.
Advanced braking and stability systems
In an emergency manoeuvre, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) helps keep the Veloster SR Turbo on track, while Hyundai’s Traction Control System (TCS) monitors grip and reduces wheel spin to assist safe acceleration on slippery or uneven road surfaces. Similarly, the Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist System (BAS) enhances safety during sudden braking by preventing the Veloster SR Turbo’s brakes from locking up. It also distributes brake-force according to the vehicle’s load.
VEHICLE STABILITY MANAGEMENT
The Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system helps maintain control of the vehicle by applying counter-steering assistance, guiding you to the correct steering position.
In the event of a collision, the Veloster SR Turbo provides comprehensive protection for all occupants by deploying up to six airbags. This includes driver and front passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, as well as left and right side airbags.
